Supposed "privatisation" of Fiona Stanley Hospital PDF Print E-mail

My comments on the supposed  "privatisation" of Fiona Stanley Hospital

The Premier, Colin Barnett has repeatedly stated that Fiona Stanley Hospital will NOT be privatised.

Some services at Fiona Stanley Hospital will be contracted out - as they have been for years at every hospital by both Labor and Liberal Governments.

The Liquor Hospitality Miscellaneous Union is wasting union members' funds  waging a war against Liberal MPs in marginal seats - such as Southern River, Riverton and Jandakot by mailing out letters and placing full page ads in local newspapers, accusing these members of  supporting the future privatisation of the Fiona Stanley Hospital.   This is simply not true.

The State government has the responsibility to get the best value for every dollar of taxpayers money.  Where private operators  provides the same or better services at a lesser cost than the public sector, then it makes good sense to contract them out.  For example, state and private hospitals usually contract out their linen service, because it is far more economical to have one large laundry, than to have one operating at each hospital.

After all, the less the services cost, the more dollars we have available for other important services.
