Ranford Primary becomes third Independent Public School in Canning Vale PDF Print E-mail
A Media Release from the office of Peter Abetz
Peter Abetz, Member for Southern River, has congratulated Ranford Primary School on becoming an independent public school (IPS) in the second intake of schools to join the program.

Education Minister Liz Constable announced that 64 more WA public schools would take on independent status from next year, in addition to the initial 34 that began the program last year.

“Ranford Primary School is the third in the Southern River electorate to join the program, with Bletchley Park Primary and Campbell Primary already established as independent public schools.  The high uptake in the area reflects very positively on the program and the willingness of parents and school communities to have a greater say in how their school is run,” said Mr Abetz.

“Independent public schools have more ownership of the schools direction and can make decisions that best suit the school community’s needs on issues like teacher selection, education programs, the values that are promoted in the school and behaviour management strategies.”

“I have been impressed by the initiatives Bletchley Park Primary and Campbell Primary schools have taken under the program and I would urge other local schools to seriously consider the benefits of the IPS program for the future,” said Mr Abetz.
